BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – — A Berkeley County man with what his wife calls a “knack for winning” has claimed a $500,000 lottery prize after buying a ticket at the Parkers store on Cane Bay Boulevard.
The lucky player won the top prize in the $10 Win Big game, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery. Just a few days later, he also won another $1,000 prize.
Over the years, his wife said he has landed several smaller prizes of $500 and $1,000, but this half-million dollar win is by far the largest.
The winning ticket was purchased early one morning at Parkers #77 on Cane Bay Boulevard in Summerville. The store received a $5,000 commission for selling the prize-winning ticket.
The winner told lottery officials he plans to use the money to pay off the couple’s house.
The odds of winning $500,000 in the Win Big game are 1 in 1,500,000. According to lottery officials, two top prizes remain in the game.
