Hanahan Woman ID’d in Fatal Highway 165 Crash

HANAHAN, S.C. – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday evening in Charleston County as 44-year-old Latasha Way of Hanahan.

Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal confirmed that Way died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision, which took place just after 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, 2025. The incident occurred on Highway 165, approximately one mile south of Hyde Park Road.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a vehicle that had exited the roadway and struck a tree. Way, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders from the St. Paul Fire Department and Charleston County EMS also assisted at the site.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office and CCSO’s Traffic Services Unit are continuing the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information that could assist to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700.
