NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — International travel just got a little easier for Berkeley County residents. Charleston International Airport (CHS) has opened South Carolina’s first Global Entry Enrollment Center, eliminating the need for locals to travel out of state to complete their interviews.
Until now, applicants had to drive hours to Charlotte or Atlanta for their Global Entry appointments. The new center means business leaders, frequent flyers, and families from Berkeley County and across the Lowcountry can now take care of everything in North Charleston.

“This is a milestone for both Charleston International and the state of South Carolina,” said Elliott Summey, President and CEO of Charleston International Airport. “Our new Global Entry Enrollment Center means residents no longer have to leave the state for their interviews. It’s an investment in convenience, in customer service, and in Charleston’s role as South Carolina’s global gateway.”

The $724,300 project, built to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Homeland Security standards, includes a waiting area, three interview offices, and a transaction window.
Gregory Alveraz, CBP’s Atlanta Director of Field Operations, said the expansion comes as demand for the Trusted Traveler Program continues to grow nationwide. “This new enrollment center in Charleston reflects CBP’s commitment to improving accessibility and convenience for travelers in the Southeast region,” he said.

Global Entry allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to speed through customs at participating airports by using automatic kiosks instead of waiting in traditional lines.
Enrollment appointments at Charleston International Airport are now open. Residents can book an interview at the new center by visiting the official Trusted Traveler Program website: https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/scheduler.
