MONCKS CORNER, S.C. โ A Berkeley County family facing unimaginable loss this holiday season is getting a small measure of relief from a local insurance group stepping in to help.
Berkeley County Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Insurance agents in Moncks Corner have donated $1,250 to the family of Thomas Crawford, who died this year after suffering catastrophic injuries in a combine accident. Crawford, a longtime member of the community, lost both legs and an arm in the incident and later died from complications related to his injuries.
The donation is intended to help cover medical costs incurred before his death and provide support to his wife and children during what local officials described as a devastating time.

โI am humbled that Farm Bureau Insurance and the Berkeley County Farm Bureau Federation Board partnered together to present Mrs. Crawford with something positive in her time of sorrow,โ said Tim Cardwell, Farm Bureau Insurance agency manager, in a statement.
The contribution is part of Farm Bureau Cares, a company-supported holiday outreach program aimed at helping families and charities across South Carolina during the month of December. Under the program, local county Farm Bureau offices select a person or cause to support, and Farm Bureau Insurance matches the donation.
More than $49,000 has been donated statewide this year through Farm Bureau Cares, assisting families and nonprofit organizations during the holiday season.
In Moncks Corner, the effort underscores how local organizations can offer meaningful support during times of crisis โ not just with financial assistance, but with a reminder that a grieving family is not alone.
