Storytime Returns To All Berkeley County Libraries

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County Library System announced that storytime programs for children from birth to age 5 will resume at every library location starting the week of Jan. 5 through April 20, 2026. While the program is designed for younger children, families with children of additional ages are also welcome to attend.

Library officials say the weekly sessions are led by trained library staff and feature interactive storytelling that includes music, movement and group participation. The goal is to help young children build early literacy skills while strengthening focus, communication and a love of reading.

Sharon Fashion, deputy director and youth services coordinator for the library system, said the program is an important part of serving families in the community and supporting childrenโ€™s development through engaging, age-appropriate activities.

Storytime will follow a rotating schedule across library branches. On Mondays, sessions will be held at the Sangaree and Daniel Island libraries from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays include two sessions at the Goose Creek Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., as well as a 10:30 to 11 a.m. session at the St. Stephen Library. On Wednesdays, the Cane Bay Library will host Storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and again from 11:10 to 11:40 a.m. Thursdays feature sessions at the Moncks Corner and Hanahan libraries from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

In addition to Storytime, the library system offers a variety of events, programs and room reservations that can be accessed online through its LibCal scheduling platform. Families who want updates about Storytime can also sign up for the libraryโ€™s Storytime Remind Group to receive notifications by push alert, text message or desktop reminder.

Library officials say the return of Storytime reflects the systemโ€™s broader mission to enrich lives by informing, inspiring and engaging the community, starting with its youngest readers.
