GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The Publix supermarket serving the Goose Creek community will temporarily close its doors this month as the company prepares for a full teardown and rebuild of the aging store.
Publix spokesperson Jared Glover confirmed the closure in an email, noting that customers were first notified through inโstore signage posted shortly after Christmas.
The store will officially close on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m., marking the start of a monthsโlong construction project that will completely replace the existing building. According to Glover, the project will mirror the recent rebuild of the Publix on Daniel Island, which required a similar timeline.

While the closure will temporarily leave Goose Creek shoppers without their neighborhood Publix, the company emphasized that the end result will be worth the wait.

โThis new expanded store will provide customers with an enhanced shopping experience, including some new features and the premier customer service they know and love,โ Glover said. โWe look forward to welcoming our customers back to their new Publix Super Market soon.โ
Publix has not yet announced an official reopening date, but construction on similar rebuilds has typically taken several months.
