Pinopolis Lock Closure Extended Until Feb. 13

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Pinopolis Lock will remain closed until Feb. 13, according to Santee Cooper.
 
The lock was originally scheduled to be closed for routine maintenance from Thursday, Jan. 8, through Friday, Jan. 23. The extended closure is necessary to ensure maintenance work can be completed safely and effectively.

The lock, part of the Santee Cooper Hydroelectric and Navigation Project, has been in service since 1942, when Santee Cooper first began generating electricity. Santee Cooper manages lakes Marion and Moultrie, South Carolina’s largest freshwater resource.
