Investigators say the circumstances surrounding Townsend’s disappearance are concerning. While the teenager has stayed out overnight before, relatives told deputies he has always returned the following day. This time, family members say he left without a backpack, extra clothing or personal items such as a toothbrush.

Townsend is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black beanie and sneakers. Deputies believe he may be riding a green-and-black Syzygy bicycle.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says it is actively working to locate the teen and is urging anyone who may have seen Townsend or has information about his whereabouts to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective A. Tucker at 843-719-4412 or call the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office directly.
