BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County has received a clean bill of financial health following an independent audit of its finances, county officials announced this week.
An outside accounting firm issued what is known as an “unmodified opinion” after reviewing the county’s financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The audit results were formally presented to Berkeley County Council on Monday.
According to the firm, Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams & Co., P.A., the county’s financial statements accurately reflect its financial position and operations and comply with applicable standards.

The audit examined the county’s governmental and business-type activities, major funds and compliance with federal program requirements for the year ending on June 30, 2025. An unmodified opinion indicates auditors found no significant issues or material misstatements in the county’s financial reporting.

County leaders say the results reflect a continued focus on responsible financial management.
“Receiving another clean audit highlights Berkeley County’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency,” said Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb. “This outcome reflects the dedication of our entire team at Berkeley County Government and the seriousness demonstrated in being good stewards of taxpayer funds.”
Officials noted that a clean audit is the best possible outcome a local government can receive and provides assurance to residents, taxpayers and stakeholders that public funds are being managed appropriately.
