BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – With the threat of winter weather and frigid temperatures forecasted for our area Saturday and Sunday, Berkeley County Emergency Management and county leaders are coordinating resources and making preparations to keep communities safe. Find the latest weather updates HERE.
The Countyโs Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will transition to OPCON 2 at 10 a.m. on Saturday. OPCON 2 reflects a potential emergency or disaster occurring.

EARLY CLOSURES: The following County facilities will open at their normal times on Saturday, January 31 but will close at noon:
- Cypress Gardens
- Landfill and Convenience Centers
- Library branches
*Cypress Gardens will remain closed on Sunday, February 1.
BOND COURT: One session will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 31 and one session at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 1. Currently, court is scheduled to resume normal hours on Monday, February 2 at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Crews with Berkeley County Roads and Bridges are actively applying brine pretreatment roads throughout the area. Key bridges, main corridors, and emergency access routes are being prioritized. Once it begins to rain, crews will transition to salt application as conditions require. Plowing operations will begin as necessary.

Crews will continue monitoring weather forecasts and roadway conditions and will adjust operations accordingly. REPORTING DAMAGE: Any resident or business that sustains structural damage from winter weather is urged to report it HERE or via the Citizen Call Line at 843-719-4800and leave a detailed message. These reports will determine appropriate federal and state funding for weather-related damage. **For all emergencies, please call 911.**
