MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — Moncks Corner police arrested a man wanted in North Carolina on multiple charges involving a minor after pulling him over for an improper lane change, officials said.
Officers, with assistance from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, identified the driver as Marin Vazquez Valencia during the Monday traffic stop. A records check quickly revealed that he was wanted in Richmond County, North Carolina, on several serious warrants.

Authorities said the charges include multiple counts of statutory sex crimes, felony sexual abuse of a child, and indecent liberties.
Because of the severity of the allegations, central dispatch contacted the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office to confirm the warrants before taking action, according to the Moncks Corner Police Department.

Valencia was then taken into custody as a fugitive from justice and transported to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, where he is being held while awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Police credited the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office for assisting during the arrest.
