Officials say the purpose of the operation is to improve roadway safety by checking for compliance with traffic regulations, including driver licensing and vehicle requirements. Drivers traveling through the area during that time should expect possible delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

To be legal in South Carolina, checkpoints must be announced ahead of time and placed in locations designed that minimize disruption for drivers while still supporting public safety efforts.
Police are also reminding drivers to remain patient, follow directions from officers on scene, and continue to drive safely as the department works to keep the community secure.
