GOOSE CREEK, S.C. — The NAACP Goose Creek branch is inviting the community to come together for an evening of culture, commerce and celebration later this month as part of Black History Month.

The organization, in partnership with Goose Creek Recreation, will host a Black History Month Market on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is designed to highlight local entrepreneurs, bring families together and honor Black history and achievement.

A key highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the 2026 Black Heritage Stamp honoring Phillis Wheatley, widely recognized as the first published African American poet. The stamp unveiling is expected to serve as a tribute to Wheatley’s enduring literary legacy and her place in American history.

Event organizers say the market is meant to be both educational and uplifting, bringing together youth, families, community leaders and small businesses in a space that celebrates culture and connection.

Leaders with the NAACP Goose Creek branch described the event as an opportunity to strengthen community ties while spotlighting local talent and history during the final weekend of Black History Month.
