Deputies say the case began on February 17 when they responded to a residence in the Cane Bay area following a report of a stolen license plate. The victim told authorities the plate had been taken from her unmarked patrol vehicle used for the Charleston Aviation Authority and provided an approximate timeframe for when the theft occurred.
The stolen plate was subsequently entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

Later that same day, deputies spotted the stolen plate attached to a vehicle traveling near Old Highway 52 and Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. Authorities saturated the area and eventually located the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 6 and U.S. Highway 17.
Deputies conducted a felony traffic stop and detained the driver, identified as Dargan, who was advised of her rights.
According to investigators, Dargan admitted she knowingly placed the stolen plate on her vehicle despite it not belonging to her.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains ongoing.
