In a public alert shared on social media, Berkeley Electric made it clear that it does not conduct door-to-door sales for its services and that legitimate employees or contractors will never ask to enter a customerโs home.
The utility also noted that official personnel can be easily identified. Employees and authorized contractors wear company-branded clothing and arrive in clearly marked vehicles โ a key distinction residents should look for when approached.
โStay vigilant,โ the cooperative urged, encouraging customers to contact its office directly if they have any questions or concerns about someone claiming to represent the company.

Door-to-door scams involving impersonation of utility workers are a common tactic used to gain trust, sometimes with the goal of collecting personal information or gaining access to homes.
Authorities advise residents to avoid sharing personal or account information with unsolicited visitors and to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
