The workshop is geared toward small business owners interested in working with government agencies, including the federal government, military, the state of South Carolina, and other public entities.

Officials say the goal is to help local businesses better understand how to qualify, compete, and secure government contractsโ€”an often complex process that can open the door to significant growth.

โ€œSmall businesses are the heartbeat of our community, bringing people together and creating opportunities for our neighbors, families, and friends,โ€ said Berkeley County Economic Development Director John O. Williams. โ€œWe are excited about this new initiative to support small business owners and help them thrive in Berkeley County.โ€

Attendees will hear directly from representatives with the U.S. Small Business Administration, along with several partner organizations, including the Womenโ€™s Business Center, Veterans Business Outreach Center, APEX Accelerators, South Carolina Small Business Development Center, and the SC Commission for Community Advancement and Engagement.

Melissa Lindler with the SBAโ€™s South Carolina District Office said the collaboration is designed to create long-term economic impact.

โ€œBy helping business owners better understand the contracting process, we are opening doors to new opportunities that support business expansion, job creation, and long-term economic growth in our communities,โ€ Lindler said.

Business owners can also learn how to determine if they qualify as a small business using the SBAโ€™s Size Standards Tool and explore federal contracting assistance programs.

The workshop is free to attend, but registration is required at this link. For questions about the workshop, contact Berkeley County Small Business Manager Diamond Curry atย [email protected].
