“This recognition reflects our commitment to professionalism, accountability, and maintaining the highest standards in law enforcement,” the department posted on its official Facebook page. “It reinforces our commitment to transparency and serving the Moncks Corner community with excellence.”
What the accreditation means
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Council, commonly known as SCLEA, serves as the state’s official accrediting body for law enforcement agencies.
Since 1999, the SCLEA program has provided a voluntary pathway for agencies to evaluate and improve their policies, procedures and operational standards.
To earn accreditation, departments must meet a set of mandatory standards developed using South Carolina law, input from public safety professionals and best business practices.
The program is designed so agencies of all sizes can participate while still demonstrating adherence to professional policing standards.

Rigorous review process
Accreditation is overseen by the governing council of South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc., a nonprofit organization that manages the program.
Council members meet regularly to review agencies that apply for accreditation and determine whether they meet the program’s detailed requirements.
Officials say departments that successfully complete the process demonstrate their commitment to maintaining consistent, transparent and professional law enforcement practices.
For the Moncks Corner Police Department, leaders say the accreditation represents both a milestone and a continued promise to the community.
The department said it remains focused on serving residents while maintaining the high standards required by the accreditation program.
