โI am running again because Berkeley County deserves leadership with experience, integrity, and a heart for service,โ Hartwell said. โI am ready to continue delivering just that.โ
Hartwell described the role of coroner as more than a profession, calling it a โcallingโ rooted in compassion and service to families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
โAs a man of faith, I believe God has placed me in this role to serve others with compassion, professionalism, and integrity,โ he wrote. โEvery case my office handles represents a family, a story and a life that deserves dignity and care.โ
During his first term, Hartwell said the Coronerโs Office reached a milestone by achieving accreditation through the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) โ the first time the Berkeley County Coronerโs Office has received that recognition.
He said the accreditation reflects the officeโs commitment to professional standards and improved service to the community.
Hartwell also highlighted efforts to strengthen training for staff, support prevention initiatives and maintain close collaboration with Berkeley County Council, county administration, law enforcement and first responders.
โMore than awards and recognition, my focus has always been on the people of Berkeley County,โ Hartwell said. โWe are committed not only to responding to tragedies but also to prevention efforts and ensuring our staff are highly trained.โ
A longtime resident of the county, Hartwell said his decision to seek another term is rooted in his connection to the community.
โBerkeley County is my home. It is the streets I walk, the churches I attend, the neighbors I know and the families I am proud to serve,โ he said.
Hartwell said he hopes to build on the work of the past four years and continue strengthening the Coronerโs Office through training, prevention efforts and partnerships with local leaders.
โI am asking for your support to continue serving as your Berkeley County Coroner,โ Hartwell said. โLetโs continue this journey together.โ
