GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek police are warning homeowners to be extra careful when letting stranger into their home.

Recently, they say the individual seen here visited a home in Boulder Bluff falsely claiming to be a salesman for ADT.

“This is a common tactic practiced by thieves and burglars,” stated Goose Creek police.

If you live in the City of Goose Creek and have had a similar experience with this or any other individual, please contact the department’s communications center at (843) 572-4300 so that an officer can be dispatched to investigate.

This is not the first time a law enforcement agency has warmed homeowners of a person falsely posing as a home security salesman.

Last month, the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office warned homeowners to be on the lookout for a suspicious man approaching residents throughout the county and then asking to come inside to check on their “security system.”

Deputies reminded residents that home security system employees will be in company vehicles, will have company identification, and will never be sent to a customers home just to check on a low battery alarm.
