BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley Electric, as of 1:30 p.m. 2,168 homeowners are currently without power in Berkeley County.

“In many areas crews are having to wait until daylight to safely enter due to flooding before restoration efforts can continue,” BEC officials stated.

In the Goose Creek area, College Park Estates and College Park Village remain without power due to flooding in the substation.

Crews are working on ways to restore and reroute power to as many members as possible.

According to BEC officials,  two circuits in the power company’s College Park substation will have to be kept offline for safety reasons due to the flooding.

“This means that power will not be able to be restored to several portions of the Crowfield area until the water recedes,” stated BEC officials. “We will update with more information as it becomes
