BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office have identified a teen suspect accused robbing the Pringletown Quick Stop on Old Gilliard Road near Ridgeville Thursday night.
According to store employees, the suspect first asked for cigarettes after entering the store. When an employee eventually asked to see his ID, the teen reportedly pulled out a black handgun and demanded money from the cash register as well as Newport cigarettes.
In the incident report, the employees stated that the suspect fired the gun and attempted to fire it again, but it malfunctioned. That’s when the suspect reportedly told one of the victims that “she was lucky.”
Surveillance video captured the frightening incident inside the store. Deputies say they are actively looking for Sadiqq Amonee Burgess, 18, in connection with the armed robbery. He is believed to be in the Summerville area and is considered armed and dangerous.
Burgess is said to have been last seen wearing a black jacket, camo pants and blue sneakers. Deputies say the teen walked away with $4,500 and 16 packs of Newport cigarettes.
Anyone with information about Burgess is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
