BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Recent data shows that divorce rates increased in Berkeley County between 2009 and 2015.
Overall, the numbers of divorced individuals in the United Sates have increased by 11.65 percent but Berkeley County experienced a higher increase of both divorced males and females over the 6 year period.

From 2009 to 2015, the numbers for divorced females increased by 31.3 percent while the number of divorced males increased by 43.7 percent. During this time period, the county’s population increased by 18.5 percent.
Here you can see how the number of divorced females outperformed South Carolina by 13.4 percent and the nation by 19.3 percent while the number of divorced males outperformed South Carolina by 23.4 percent and the nation by 32.3 percent.
“Such an increase of divorced individuals for Berkeley County supports the general trend that is happening on both state and national levels. The numbers indicate that marriages in Berkeley County are mirroring the nation wide trend but at a higher rate” said data analyst for Pansop, Kevin Pryor.
