BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A Ladson man will spend 30 years behind bars after pleading guilty to beating his girlfriend and then setting her on fire earlier this year.
Christopher Holmes, 42, was charged with attempted murder and domestic violence following an incident that occurred in early April 2017.
Last spring,ย deputies say Holmes tried to kill his girlfriend by pouring lighter fluid on her and setting her on fire following an argument.
The incident took place at a home on Coveney Way in the Ladson area in Berkeley County.
Before deputies arrived on scene, a bystander transported the victim toย Tridentย Hospital in North Charleston.
The victim, who had extensive burns on her body, wasย transferredย to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia for furtherย treatment. She continues to recover from her injuries.
