BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Two people are behind bars on drug charges following a traffic stop in Berkeley County this week.

On Monday, deputies conducted a lawful traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Tahoe.

Deputies got consent from the back seat passenger, later identified as 38-year-old Thomas Walter Ward, Jr., to be searched. As a result of the search, deputies located Meth in Ward’s boot that “someone dropped in there,” according to deputies.

While conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle, Heroin was located near the driver seat. The driver was identified as 37-year-old Ruby Marie Herron.

While on the way to the jail, authorities say Herron advised deputies she had additional Heroin in her groin area.

Ward and Herron are being charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin. Ward is also being charged with Possession of Meth.

Deputies say Ward was last arrested on December 27, 2018 during a drug bust at a home in Goose Creek.
