BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A man is behind bars after he told officers with was an undercover officer.

Berkeley County deputies were called to the scene of a wreck in Jamestown to assist Highway Patrol on January 28th.

Once deputies got on scene, authorities say the driver identified himself as law enforcement.

The driver, later identified as 38-year-old Johnathan Matthew Meree, stated that he was an undercover cop employed by the Berkeley County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Meree was obviously unable to present any real law enforcement credentials.

Meree was placed under arrest for Driving while Suspended, Reckless Driving, and Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer.

This is not Meree’s first run-in with the law. On January 15th he was arrested by the Moncks Corner Police Department and charged with Trespassing/Entry on another’s pasture or other lands after notice.
