Funeral Arrangments Planned for Former Moncks Corner Police Chief

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Friends and family will say a final farewell to former Moncks Corner Police Chief Chad Caldwell on Sunday.

The longtime law enforcement officer passed away on Wednesday. He was 73-years-old. His cause of death has not been publically released.

Caldwell started his career in the Army National Guard and then the SC Wildlife Department. He spent several years working for SLED, which led to opportunities to become a Captain for the North Charleston Police Department.

He went on to serve as Chief of Police of North Charleston and Moncks Corner Police Departments.

Caldwell spent 15 years at the police chief in Moncks Corner before retiring.

In 2015, he then ran for sheriff of Berkeley County. Duane Lewis ultimately won the special election for sheriff.

Surviving him are his two daughters, a son and seven grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner, Sunday afternoon, July 7, 2019, at 3 o’clock. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 until the hour of service.
