BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Two adults from Summerville are facing serious legal trouble after stopping a Berkeley County school bus and confronting children onboard, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the incident happened on May 5, when a car blocked a school bus on Baxter Brown Way near the Waters at St. James apartment complex. The bus was en route to Devon Forest Elementary when Jakevah Rahsha Brown, 28, and Ronald Olivier, Jr., 31, reportedly got out of the car and forced their way onto the bus.

Brown and Olivier ignored the bus driver’s instructions to stay off the bus. Once onboard, they reportedly confronted and threatened students over a supposed altercation involving Brown’s child. The encounter, which was captured on video and supported by witness statements, left several students visibly shaken and disrupted the morning bus route, deputies confirmed.

Brown was arrested on May 7 and charged with kidnapping and interference with the operation of a school bus. Olivier is currently wanted on the same charges, plus an additional charge of assault and battery in the third degree.

“This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff Duane Lewis. “Those that disrupt and compromise the safety of children and school personnel will be held accountable.”
