MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man found deceased at the Short Stay Recreational Area in Moncks Corner.
Officials say the body was discovered around 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, and has been identified as John Charles Young, a 70-year-old resident of Moncks Corner.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Berkeley County EMS, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and East Berkeley Fire & Rescue.
