MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — History will come alive this month as Colonial Day returns to Old Santee Canal Park for its fourth year. The event, set for Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the park and the Berkeley County Museum.
Organizers say the day will feature living history participants from across South Carolina, including the Horry County Museum, Historic Camden Foundation, The Powder Magazine, Southern Campaign 1780, and the Charleston Museum. Groups such as the Charlestown Long Rifles, Carolina Navy, and the 7th Regiment of Foot will also take part, offering visitors a chance to see demonstrations of colonial life up close.

In addition to reenactments and historical displays, the festival will include lectures, performances, and local vendors. Historian Jeff Neale will give a talk on the Declaration of Independence, while Rick Wise will discuss the Francis Marion Papers. Visitors can also hear from historical interpreters such as “Eliza Lucas Pinckney” and enjoy performances by the Carolina Storyteller and master gardener Christopher Burtt.

Local authors, artisans, and food vendors will be on hand, with offerings ranging from sweetgrass baskets to handmade wood turnings and sourdough baked goods. Food trucks including Rustic Muffin, Swig & Swine, and Sweets To Eat & More will serve food throughout the day.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students with ID, and free for children age six and under.
