MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Home Telecom, a regional communications provider rooted in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, announced Wednesday it has reached a major milestone: 50,000 customers served across Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties. The achievement marks a doubling of its customer base in just seven years and reflects the company’s enduring presence in the community for more than 120 years.
“As we approach 122 years in business, this milestone is more than a number—it’s a testament to the power of local connections,” said William Helmly, president and CEO of Home Telecom. “Our employees are the heartbeat of this company. Their passion, innovation, and dedication are what make Home Telecom a trusted name in the region.”
Founded in Moncks Corner, Home Telecom has evolved from a traditional telephone service into a cutting-edge broadband provider. The company has expanded multi-gig internet into rural areas, launched community-wide SmartTown Wi-Fi, and recently introduced 5 Gbps service in Nexton alongside its new MyWiFi Outdoor product.

“We have been part of this community for generations, and we are just getting started,” said Gina Shuler, vice president of Marketing. “Our growth is fueled by the trust of our neighbors, and we are investing that trust right back—through sponsorships, grants, and technology that empowers families, schools, and businesses to thrive.”
The company attributes its success to its hyperlocal approach and responsiveness to customer needs. “Being a local provider gives us a unique advantage,” said Phallan Robbins, vice president of Growth and Experience. “We are agile, responsive, and deeply tuned in to what our customers need. That is why we not only deliver fast internet—but an exceptional, friendly, and flexible experience that national providers simply cannot match.”
