BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County will begin a weeklong stormwater system inventory Monday in two Goose Creek subdivisions to better understand local drainage and flooding issues, officials announced.
According to Berkeley County Government, the project will run from October 6–10, 2025, and will focus on the Oak Creek and Longford Place neighborhoods. The initiative aims to assess how well the existing stormwater infrastructure is performing and to identify solutions to reduce flooding risks for residents.
The County has contracted Woolpert, a stormwater data collection firm, to carry out the work. Field crews will use GPS, survey equipment, and cameras to measure and document drainage systems throughout the neighborhoods.
“Woolpert’s personnel will be clearly identified with safety vests, name badges, and other forms of identification,” county officials said in a statement. “Each team member will also carry credentials and can provide site-specific information upon request.”

The stormwater inventory is part of Berkeley County’s compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, a federal and state requirement under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).

Officials are asking residents in both subdivisions to allow Woolpert staff access to stormwater system components on their property during the data collection process.
“Berkeley County and Woolpert appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding,” the county said.
