MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Chief Lee Mixon confirmed his resignation Friday from the Moncks Corner Police Department, marking the end of his tenure leading the townโs law enforcement agency.
In a statement released via social media, Mixon said he is grateful for the opportunity to have served as police chief and plans to spend the coming weeks reflecting on his next steps.
โAs many of you are aware, I have left or am leaving the Moncks Corner Police Department,โ Mixon said. โI am grateful for the extraordinary opportunity to have served as Chief of Police. Over the next few weeks, I intend to reflect on my future endeavors and trust that God will guide me accordingly.โ

Mixon emphasized that he departs with pride in his service and confidence in the departmentโs direction.
โI leave with my reputation intact and with the knowledge that I had the privilege of working alongside the finest men and women of the Moncks Corner Police Department, as well as serving the citizens of Moncks Corner,โ he said.

The outgoing chief also highlighted recent community support efforts, noting that the department collected more than 4,000 toys for Toys for Tots, an initiative he described as occurring during a period of strong public backing for the department.
โI also leave on a high note and at a time when community support is at its peak, having collected over 4,000 toys in support of Toys for Tots,โ Mixon said. According to his statement, the donations will benefit more than 20 families in Moncks Corner and support additional families across the Lowcountry.
Mixon credited officers and professional staff for making the effort possible.

He also thanked residents and supporters who reached out following the announcement of his departure and said he believes the department is well-positioned moving forward.
โI entered this role with a clear understanding of its challenges and depart with the knowledge that I have left the department in a better position for my successor,โ Mixon said.
Mixon expressed confidence in the departmentโs future leadership, naming Captain Antwan Richardson as his successor.
โCaptain Richardson is a man of integrity and honor and will serve the Town faithfully,โ Mixon said. โI have utmost confidence in his leadership.โ
Mixon, who joined the police department in 2023, became the town’s chief in March of this year after former MCPD Chief Stephen G. Young stepped down to join the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office. No reason was provided for Mixon’s resignation.
In a statement, town officials said, in part, “Chief Mixon focused on community engagement, departmental professionalism, and operational improvements. The Town of Moncks Corner thanks Chief Mixon for his service and dedication to the community.”
