MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office recently wrapped up its annual Toys for Tots campaign, contributing to a wide-reaching holiday effort that brought Christmas gifts to children across the Lowcountry.
The 26th Annual Toys for Tots Christmas Delivery brought together more than 300 volunteers, 22 delivery groups, and over 50 law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel. Among them were 20 Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies who made sure families received toys, essentials, and a reminder that their community cares.
According to the sheriff’s office, the operation began with more than 400 family deliveries, ultimately serving 1,277 children in Berkeley County alone. Across the Tri‑County region, the impact was even larger: 8,667 children received gifts through the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation’s annual campaign.
“Your service and commitment did not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful,” Cpl. Carli Carr, BCSO’s public information officer, said.

Five delivery teams were deployed throughout Berkeley County on Christmas Eve, reaching more than 150 families. Deputies joined volunteers in distributing toys ranging from teddy bears and dolls to board games and outdoor balls.
The holiday push followed weeks of community engagement, including a friendly competition with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. Charleston County kicked off the challenge by collecting 51 footballs — and quickly surpassed that number with 192. Berkeley County responded by rallying residents through an Amazon wishlist featuring toys under $20, encouraging families to give in a way that was both affordable and meaningful.
“Every single item, big or small, helps remind a child that their community cares,” Carr wrote in an earlier message to residents. “Let’s fill hearts, hands, and Christmas morning joy.”
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a national program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, relies heavily on local partnerships to reach families in need. Berkeley County officials say this year’s turnout reflects the strength of those partnerships and the generosity of the community.
