MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The Town of Moncks Corner has tapped longtime law enforcement veteran Antwan Richardson to serve as its next police chief, officials announced this week.
Richardson, who currently holds the rank of captain within the Moncks Corner Police Department, brings more than 15 years of experience to the role. His career spans corrections, patrol, investigations, K-9 operations, and school resource officer dutiesโgiving him a broad and practical understanding of both frontline and specialized policing.
He has served with the department for six years, rising through the ranks as lieutenant and captain, overseeing key areas such as training, hiring, and daily operations.

Richardson holds multiple degrees in criminal justice and public administration and is currently pursuing a doctorate in business administration with a focus on public service. He has also completed advanced leadership training through programs like Carolina Command College, FBI-LEEDA, and the Charleston Police Executive Leadership Summit.

Mayor Thomas J. Hamilton, Jr. praised Richardsonโs appointment, calling him โexceptionally well qualifiedโ and citing his integrity, professionalism, and commitment to community trust and officer support.
