MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Shoppers in Moncks Corner will soon have another option for groceries as ALDI moves forward with plans to open a new store in the growing community.
The fast-expanding grocery chain is building its second location in Berkeley County, with the new store rising across from Chick-fil-A near the corner of Highway 17A and Anglers Drive. Construction is already underway.
“We are excited to confirm that we are making headway on a new store in Moncks Corner, which will be located at 613 N. Highway 52,” ALDI Regional Vice President Krysta Cearley told The Berkeley Observer.

In late December, the company filed a permit with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services to begin development at the site. While Cearley did not provide a projected opening date, she said the company will share more details as progress continues.
“We’ll stay in touch in the coming months as more information regarding the store is made available,” she said.

Known for its low prices and streamlined shopping experience, the German-based grocer is in the middle of a major national growth push. ALDI announced last month that it plans to open more than 180 new stores by the end of the year as part of its continued expansion across the United States.

With the added locations, the company expects to operate nearly 2,800 stores by the end of 2026, moving closer to its long-term goal of 3,200 stores nationwide by 2028.

“One in three U.S. households shopped at ALDI this past year, and in 2026 we’re focused on making it even easier for customers to shop our aisles first,” said ALDI U.S. CEO Atty McGrath. “That means bringing ALDI to even more neighborhoods, upgrading our website and planning additional distribution centers to keep our shelves stocked with the products our shoppers love.”
ALDI currently operates 55 locations across South Carolina. Until the Moncks Corner store opens, the closest option for area residents remains the ALDI in Goose Creek at 205 St. James Avenue.
