According to the Berkeley County Sheriffโs Office, the incident began Feb. 15 when a deputy was attempting to rescue a dog on the side of College Park Road. Authorities say Ford drove past the scene and came dangerously close to hitting the deputy, despite emergency blue lights being activated.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and quickly noticed the vehicle had severe damage and deployed airbags. Ford reportedly told deputies he had just been involved in a car crash moments earlier.
Investigators say the situation escalated when the deputy tried to detain Ford. He allegedly became aggressive and refused commands, prompting the deputy to deploy a Taser. Ford was then taken into custody without further incident.
While deputies were still handling the stop, another call came in reporting a road rage confrontation involving Ford. According to the victims, an argument led to Ford intentionally ramming their vehicle with his truck.
Ford was transported to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, where he remains held on a $150,232.50 bond.
Authorities have not released additional details about the victimsโ injuries or the extent of the damage from the reported vehicle collision.
