ST. STEPHEN, S.C. – A local favorite known for its coffee, ice cream, and sense of community is preparing to close its doors, marking the end of an era for many in the Lowcountry.
Lowcountry Coffee Company at 1174 N. Main Street in St. Stephen announced in a social media post that it will officially close on Saturday, Feb. 28, after what owners described as โa couple of wonderful yearsโ serving the community.

In the heartfelt message, the business reflected on the relationships and memories built over time, emphasizing that the shop became more than just a place to grab a drink or dessert.
โFrom early morning coffee runs to late-night ice cream cravings, youโve filled our space with laughter, conversations, friendships, and unforgettable memories,โ the post read. โThis was never just a coffee and ice cream shop โ it was a place where connections were made and community was built.โ

The announcement quickly drew an outpouring of support and disappointment from customers and local leaders.
โOh no! My absolute favorite place to go when Iโm down visiting my daughter. What are we going to do without our favorite coffee place!!!โ wrote Jean Dennis.
Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. also shared his reaction, saying, โI was just at your shop this past weekend, and I hate to see this.โ
