BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. โ A Berkeley County resident with experience in local and state politics has announced plans to run for a seat on Berkeley County Council.
Ralph Prioleau said he is seeking the District 7 seat, citing his background in public service and ties to the community.

Prioleau currently serves as Third Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party and works as Assistant Dean of Academic Administration and Assessment at the Charleston School of Law. He previously served as chair of the Berkeley County Democratic Party.
In a statement announcing his candidacy, Prioleau said his decision to run is rooted in his connection to Berkeley County and his familiarity with local issues.
โThis is home,โ said Prioleau. โIโm not just running to represent District 7, Iโve lived the experiences of the people here. I understand our challenges because theyโre my challenges too. And Iโve spent my career working to make this community stronger.โ
Berkeley County has experienced continued growth in recent years, bringing increased attention to infrastructure, education and public services. In his campaign announcement, Prioleau said he plans to focus on issues including growth management, access to basic services, and transparency in local government.
The District 7 seat is currently held by Caldwell Pinckney Jr., who has served on Berkeley County Council since 2000.
