Man killed on Cainhoy Road after collision with 18 wheeler

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On January 12, at 5:07 p.m. the Berkeley Co. Coroner’s Office was notified of a traffic death on Cainhoy Road in Berkeley County.

A Ford F-350 truck driven by 44-year-old John Mitchell, Jr. of Summerville, collided with an 18 wheeler going in the opposite direction, authorities stated.

Mitchell was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Kristin Mazzell who ruled the death accidental.

The accident is being investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the S C Highway Patrol. Mr. Mitchell was wearing a seatbelt.
