Lydia Gertrude Mitchum-McKelvy, 49, of Ladson SC has passed away into the arms of the Lord on June 22, 2022. Lydia was born in Sumter, SC on July 18, 1972, the daughter of Sandra Ann Mitchum and the late Cecil Mitchum Sr.

Lydia was always one of the first people to go out of her way to help someone in need. She was giving, loving, and forever caring for other people's needs above her own. Lydia enjoyed cooking and baking her amazing tasting food for herself, her family, and her friends. Her genuine heart made her one of the best people to know. She was a wonderful mother to her sons and daughters and would do anything that she could to put a smile on their faces.

Lydia was a courageous woman who would keep you on all ten of your toes but in a good way. She was a remarkable homemaker in any home she would walk into.

Lydia would quite often enjoy going shopping and doing anything under the sun with her youngest child, Madison. Lydia and Madison were like two peas in a pod when it came to one another, they were best friends.

In addition, Lydia was predeceased by her Father Cecil Mitchum. She is survived by her Daughter Madison Campbell of Ladson SC, her Daughter Katelynn Thigpen of Sumter SC, her Sons; Jonathan Mitchum of Greenville TN, Tyler Mitchum of St. Louis MI, Connor Mitchum of Sumter SC, her Brothers James Bowick (Kathy), Cecil Mitchum Jr., her Sisters Melanie Bowick, Tina Pettis, her Mother Sandra Mitchum, her two grandchildren Bentley Thigpin, Corey Connor Jr., one Niece, and six Nephews.

Lydia will be deeply missed by everyone she has come in contact with along with her family and friends.
