Moncks Corner Police Dept. joins ‘Nextdoor.com’ to curb crime & improve community safety

town of moncks cornerMONCKS CORNER, S.C.—The town of Moncks Corner is the latest community to join one of the newest, fastest growing social networks to help fight crime. The site is called Nextdoor.com.

“The Moncks Corner Police Department is looking forward to utilizing this format to better communicate and respond to the needs and concerns of the community,” stated Steve Meadows, crime prevention officer with the Moncks Corner Police Department.

According to Nextdoor.com’s mission statement, its goal is to use the power of technology to build stronger and safer neighborhoods.

“If you have concerns or comments please do not hesitate to contact us,” stressed. Meadows. “Together we are stronger, and are more able to keep our community safe, and communicate our concerns.”

Nextdoor.com is a private social network that makes it easy neighbors to talk online and to quickly get the word out about a break-in, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, etc.

“This will not replace the e-mail network but will hopefully enhance our dialogue,” stated Meadows. “For those who use a smart phone there is an app associated with the Next Door community and you can receive notifications on your phone.”

If you are interested in the server, you can go to www.nextdoor.com to register.

“Your privacy is important, and is one of the things that makes this a great way to connect with the different neighborhoods,” stated Meadows.

If you have any questions, you can email Meadows at [email protected].
