PHOTOS: Hurricane Matthew’s Impact On Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Matthew made landfall Saturday morning just southeast of the town of McClellanville.

At 10 a.m., Matthew was centered about 30 miles southeast of Charleston, its winds having dropped to 75 mph, a Category 1 storm.

Strong winds and dangerous storm surge continue to affect the lowcountry. Heavy rains and gusty winds are also spreading inland.

On the forecast track, the center of Matthew will continue to move near or over the coast of South Carolina today, and be near the coast of southern North Carolina by tonight.

Down trees, heavy flooding and many power outages have been reported in Berkeley County.
