Buist Byars & Taylor Law Firm Names New Daniel Island Partner

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C.–Buist, Byars & Taylor LLC has expanded its litigation department and management team with the addition of Patrick J. McDonald of Daniel Island as a partner.

McDonald’s practice is focused on construction litigation, business litigation and real estate disputes. As a former in-house counsel to one of the world’s largest construction management companies, Boivs Lend Lease, and founder of SC Construction Law, McDonald is well versed in all facets of the construction and real estate industries.

He has represented owners, developers, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties, manufacturers, homeowner associations and other general business clients in various matters across the country.

Additionally, he handles individual legal matters including litigation regarding wills, estates and probate.  He has appeared in state and federal courts as well as numerous mediations and arbitrations. He is a certified South Carolina Mediator, a certified South Carolina Arbitrator, a certified Karrass® Negotiator and a licensed South Carolina Real Estate Broker.

Admitted to practice in South Carolina and Michigan, McDonald is a frequent lecturer on numerous construction law matters. He currently serves as a member of the SC Bar Association Construction Law Section, the American Bar Association Construction Law Forum, the Charleston County Bar Association, the National Association of Realtors and Knights of Columbus.

McDonald takes pride volunteering his time as a City of Charleston Recreation Department coach and Junior Achievement mentor. He is also a former Board Member of the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association.

McDonald earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in English from John Carroll University and a law degree from the University of Detroit, where he was Managing Editor of In Brief and the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship.
