HANAHAN, S.C.–Police do more than answer calls from dispatch and keep the community safe. Sometimes they are forced to unleash their inner “Crocodile Dundie.”
That was certainly the case Wednesday morning in Hanahan.
Officers responded to the Bi-Lo along Tanner Ford Blvd. today where they were met with an unusual mission.
They were called in to remove an alligator that decided to chill under a car outside the grocery store.
Clearly, this is not something taught to officers at the police academy; however, the officers handled the
task at hand perfectly.
After taping the gator’s mouth shut, the officers then released it in a nearby body of water.
This is not the first time and alligator has been spotted in an unusual location.
Last week, neighbors in The Hamlet subdivision got quite the surprise when they found a 10-foot-gator roaming the sidewalk.
The story was such a talker it made national headlines.
