Art Classes For Kids Offered At Goose Creek’s Casey Center

GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Looking for a fun and educational activity for your child?

Goose Creek Recreation is offering three art classes in the coming months at the city’s Casey Community Center.

“Everything Art” for ages 7 to 12 meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday from Sept. 3 to Oct. 8.  Participants will create 2D and 3D masterpieces, and will explore printmaking, bookbinding, sculpting and clay. The class is a great opportunity to start building a dynamic art portfolio.

“Bookbinding Meets Printmaking” for ages 8 to 12 also meets for six weeks, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays from Oct. 15 to Nov. 19. Participants will create original, handmade bound books with their own handcrafted prints. The class will teach basic bookbinding and printmaking techniques.

The cost for each class is $70 for residents of Goose Creek, and $75 for non-residents. A $20 supply fee is paid to the instructor at the first class.

“Holiday Art,” a three-week class for ages 6 to 11, meets Thursdays, Dec. 3 to Dec. 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will learn about various holiday traditions while creating beautiful art to give as gifts or decorate their home for the holidays. Techniques will include printmaking, painting and sculpting.

The class costs $40 for residents, and $45 for non-residents, and a $15 supply fee.
