Mayor Proclaims ‘Amateur Radio Week’ In Goose Creek

GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Mayor Michael Heitzler has proclaimed June 20-26 “Amateur Radio Week” in the City of Goose Creek. The Mayor signed the proclamation at City Hall on June 13th.

The proclamation calls Amateur Radio a valuable tool for Goose Creek’s emergency organizations, as well as one that the nation uses in times of crises such as hurricanes or tsunami catastrophes overseas. In addition, the Mayor thanked local Amateur Radio operators for providing radio communication for the City at a host of local events.

Mayor Heitzler was joined at the signing by Amateur Radio enthusiasts Peggy Reese, Jay Clark, Tom Lufkin, Steve Lamendola, Beverly Boyd, David Merritts and Ken Curtis.

The Amateur Radio Relay League’s Field Day exercise will take place June 25-26. For more information on the ARRL visit www.ARRL.org.
