BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help locating a stolen vehicle similar to the one seen in the above photo.

Authorities say a 2015 Volkswagen Passat was stolen either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning from 214 Miami Street in unincorporated Goose Creek.

The SC Tag is LKV-146. The car has no tint or unusual stickers on it.

“The location of the theft is just blocks from where yesterday’s manhunt took place,” the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook. “We do not know that the escapees have this vehicle, but they very well could.”

If anyone sees this vehicle, please call 9-1-1 immediately to report its whereabouts.

On June 24th, officials with the Dorchester County County Sheriff’s Office stated that Donald Little, Michael Chaplin and Matthew Chaplin broke off a piece of metal from under a desk at the jail and used it as a crowbar to pry a window to get out of the St. George facility early Friday morning.

Dorchester County Sheriff LC Knight stated that the three inmates tied linens together to climb down and then climbed over two fences. The trio reportedly stole a vehicle from a nearby home after the escape.

Berkeley County deputies searched hours for the three escaped inmates after they were spotted traveling in a stolen truck. During a manhunt, the trio eventually abandoned the truck.

Deputies say the men ran off into the woods near Wannamaker Park. Prior to that, they were spotted around the Sangaree area, Charleston Southern University and the Hamlets neighborhood.

“Deputies and surrounding law enforcement agencies are actively looking [for them],” stated BCSO officials.

The three men also be considered dangerous and possibly armed, Dorchester County deputies stated. Their charges range from probation violation, grand larceny, drug possession and burglary.
