On Saturday, inmates spent the day on the northern end of the county picking up debris at a park in St. Stephen.

The Sheriff’s Inmate Work Detail also cleaned up three churches, one cemetery and one fire station.

While participation in the the work detail program is voluntary, inmates with violent charges or a history of drug use are prohibited from taking part in the cleanup.

Sheriff Duane Lewis launched the work detail program for low-risk inmates in October 2015.
