BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–For the second time in a row, a Goose Creek man is accused of lying to authorities about being a U.S. Marshal.
David Stanley Hubbard, 58, faced a Charleston bond judge Tuesday. He’s charged with providing false information to law enforcement and impersonating a police officer.
According to Charleston police, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Hubbard on Calhoun Street for an improper lane change on March 5th.
Hubbard reportedly disagreed with the officer and told him “that as a U.S. Marshal he doesn’t take his driving lightly.”
The officer said he then informed Hubbard of his court date and to speak with a judge if he didn’t agree with the citation.
Authorities say as the officer was walking away, Hubbard stated,”Thanks for citing a fellow officer.”
Folly Beach police recently arrested Hubbard for also impersonating a police officer.
A report states that in that incident, Hubbard was operating as an Uber driver when he identified himself to passengers as a U.S. Marshal.
Within Hubbard’s vehicle was a siren, a plug-in blue and red box, and a 9mm Beretta that was hidden underneath the driver seat, police say.
In 2012, Berkeley County deputies arrested Hubbard for domestic violence.
