BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—On Thursday, Amy Kovach appeared inside a general sessions courtroom in Moncks Corner, charged with an ethics violation.
According to a spokesperson for the South Carolina Attorney General, Kovach is accused of abusing public funds to influence the outcome of an election during the “Yes 4 Schools” campaign.
Kovach was indicted on the charge back in early February.
If convicted, Kovach faces a fine of up to $5,000 or up to one year in prison.
Since the indictment, Kovach has been placed on administrative leave with pay.
